We started off the fifth session
today by first reviewing the topics of subjects and predicates that we went
over in the previous session, as this would help with the day’s topic of direct
subjects. I once again started with a brief overview of what a direct object was
and went over several examples. We spent a decent amount of time on the
introduction as a David seemed to struggle a little at first but then picked it
up very quickly. From there we moved on to a Jeopardy! Style game where David and I worked through the problems
by identifying the subject, predicate, and object in a way that I modeled for
him. Once I felt that he had a firm grasp on the topic, I gave him a ten
sentence quiz in which he had to find all three parts of the sentence that we
had discussed. The lesson went well, but definitely took longer than I thought
as I hoped to go over indirect objects as well but I’ll go over that next time.
