For the third cultural
workshop, we talked about stereotypes and generalizations. Ahmed was very
interested in talking about this, because he is Muslim, and there are many
negative stereotypes about Muslims. Also, we talked about stereotypes about
Americans. It is difficult for me to talk about some stereotypes because I
believe some of them are problems in American culture. An example of this is
that many Americans do not know much about the history of other countries,
especially those outside of Europe. Overall, it was an interesting conversation
because it made me think about my culture as one of many, and not the usual way
of doing things.
