My sixth tutoring session with Felix was about correct
preposition use. To start with, I had Felix briefly review the definition of a
preposition and how it functions in a sentence by asking him if he remembered
it from our previous parts of speech lesson. I could tell from his response
that he was beginning to pay more attention to grammar structures and how they
work. I had him do a couple worksheets identifying the correct prepositions to
fill in the blanks. We then spent a good amount of time specifically going over
on/in/at, which I noticed he had trouble with in his speaking and writing.
Although all of these prepositions can be used with times and places, we went
over which specific situations warrant each prepositions, and I had him come up
with several example sentences for each one. After we did this, he actually
opened his most recent composition on his computer and fixed a couple errors
where he had used these prepositions incorrectly.
