My fourth tutoring session with Felix focused on reviewing
parts of speech and how to use them correctly. I brought a few worksheets for
the this as well as a printout explaining each term with examples for him to
use as reference. We went over the terms first and I answered questions he had
in understanding them as well as going over examples are providing a few rules
of thumb (e.g. words ending in -ly are usually, but not always, adverbs). I
then had him go ahead and start on the worksheets. The first one involved
primarily identifying the correct part of speech for a word as used in the sentence.
The next focused mostly on the correct use of adjectives and adverbs, which I
had noticed he had trouble distinguishing between. After going over the
worksheet, he verbally formed some of his own sentences using the same
vocabulary.
