For this workshop we were to help our CIES group members
prepare a final project presentation. We were to help this design a poster
board that covered the topics from the earlier workshops. We chose classroom
behavior, stereotypes, and identity.
This was a fun project to be working on and getting to see
what information people wanted others to learn about their culture was very
insightful. The most interesting part of this project to me was when we wrote
down stereotypes or misconceptions about our cultures that we wanted to
correct.
This was a very fun experience and I enjoyed working on the
project with the other members of my group and getting to know them a bit
better then just following the discussion scripts. Being able to just talk to the people from my group without having the activity allowed us to discover things in a natural and organic fashion. because of this we were able to talk about subjects that we may not have discussed if we were just following a worksheet. Getting to know my group members in this way was very nice.
