Since we had already done a decent amount of practice for
the TOEFL test, for our sixth session Yuma wanted to focus some of the practice
on the GRE. He had a book with thousands of GRE vocabulary words, so much of
our time was spent going over ones he was confused about. I would try to quiz him
periodically on the words we went over so it would stick a little bit better.
He also made a list of sentences that he wrote using the words to study from, I
helped correct him on a few minor grammatical errors in his sentences as well. We
tried to incorporate the words into our conversation. We also just spoke
generally, as he wanted to get better with conversational and casual English
for our last session. Half of the GRE words were ones I would never actually
use in everyday conversation, so we found alternative words for each situation.
