Matt Zanis TS#13

This tutoring session would be my first with a boy named Federico, who was born in Columbia and moved to the United States around the age of three. His pronunciation was very good, the one aspect his mother Carolina asked me to focus on was writing as this was an area he particularly struggled in. For the first lesson, I figured it would be best to go over with him ways to plan for an essay, and some strategies for writing an intro as well. We started out with planning an essay, I showed him some graphic organizers he could model his own strategy after.  After that we began discussing introductions and some parts that could help in his writing such as: a hook, issue statement, personal position, thesis, and supporting reasons. After going over the basic parts, we then examined some model introductions and looked at whether or not they had all the parts we discussed. If they were missing parts, I had him write in what he would have done differently.
