For my second session with Hee-Jin,
I brought the outline of the paper he had begun to write and e-mailed to me
earlier in the week. It was basically just an intro and a page or two outlining
his points. We began the session by going over just a few grammatical things I
noticed, nothing technically wrong but just phrasing that I found weird. It was
difficult assessing some areas because I was unsure of a specific word’s
meaning in his given field. His paper was based on Shakespeare’s As You Like It, more specifically analyzing
some differences between the written text itself and its accompanying
theatrical interpretation. After we got through my initial grammatical
questions, we started on my content based questions to help him prepare for his
eventual classroom experience. Seeing as I’m not too knowledgeable in the field
coming up with questions was easy. His pronunciation was good for the most part
but I did have him track back a few times to clarify. He said he would finish
the paper before the next session and e-mail it to me once again.
