Demery TP-13
On Thursday, July 21st, Dojun and I met once more. We focused on colloquialisms and had another conversational (grammar in use) session. Dojun is not new to tutoring sessions, meaning that he is especially aware of multiple colloquial phrases. He mentioned some of his favorites. He did mention that he was still having trouble telling the difference between proverbs and idioms. This was something that I was unprepared for, but we went on a learning experience together. I quickly rehashed the difference in phrasing that occurs between an idiom and a proverb, and I attempted to allay that to him. As I've stated previously, I am very expressive when I teach. So, when I spoke of the proverb, I used my hands to demonstrate the lengthy and full phrase. When I taught the idiom, I shrunk the space between my hands to demonstrate the clausal term. I think this helped Dojun, I saw him parroting my hand movements when he differentiated between proverbs and idioms.
