Demery CP-6

Because I was not able to go to the last cultural workshop, I spent my last cultural partner session with a girl from China named Yuxin. After severely mispronouncing her name many times, I asked if she would be okay with me referring to her by her americanized name, Vivian. She seemed amused by my attempts, and said that would be okay. I asked where she would like to go, and she said she had never been to krishna lunch and wanted to go. So, we got two heaping platefuls of krishna food, and thus the cultural exchange began! Yuxin is a student at Ohio State University whose host family lived in Tallahassee. She's a sophomore who is looking to get her degree in psychology. She told me that this was against the wishes of her family, who believed this degree would not amount to much. I asked her what home was like, and she said it was "higher". I was clearly confused, but she quickly explained how she lived in a mountainous area in China. She also mentioned that most of her food is "spicy" in comparison to our own.
