Juliana TS#15

My second session with Manal was on July 25th. We met in the CIES building again. This session was similar to our first in that Manal had already planned exactly what she wanted to do. While I had already planned something for us, I certainly did not mind that she took the initiative. After all, these tutoring sessions were for her benefit, not mine. I really didn't care what we went over, as long as it helped her.

This time, Manal had questions about crime in America. She has doing a project on theft in Tallahassee. First we talked about theft in general and why we think people are motivated to steal. Then we discussed possible solutions to end or reduce the amount of theft in our community. Manal had a series of specific questions about theft. She recorded my answers on her phone. Then, she showed me what she had already created for her project, which was in the form of a power point presentation. I gave her some critique on form and organization to adjust her presentation for optimal understanding.

She then told me that this would be our last session because she was moving back to her country. She told me a little bit about her family and her city. She mentioned she wanted to come back here to go to grad school but first she must pass the IELTS and the GRE. I gave her a few resources to practice for those tests and I also gave her some resources to find online tutors to help her with both tests back home. She also asked about how to improve her typing skills so I showed her a website that teaches one how to type.
