The second class I observed was a level 2 reading class with Victoria Davis. In this class, I did not participate as much as I did in Kyle's class; instead, I sat in the back of the room and observed.
She started the class by going over the agenda for the period. Then they went over some quiz questions. The students had to read a passage in the previous class and answer some comprehension questions. They went over the questions together and why certain answers were incorrect. Some of the questions were fairly difficult. The answer was dependent on small one-word subtleties in the question like "most" or "majority". These types of questions were the most difficult for the students.
The second half of the class was spent reading an ESL version of "The Mummy". They had already read the majority of the book in previous classes and they were finishing up the story in this class. Victoria read the story out loud and the students followed along. She took periodic pauses to ask some comprehension questions.
