For this session, Ayah and I worked through a homework assignment from her listening class. I had planned a lesson for her, but when I talked to her about it I realized she was struggling with her homework load that week and this particular assignment. Her assignment was to listen to a TED talk and answer some comprehension questions about it. She had already listened to the talk, but she hadn’t been able to grasp it. So we first read through all her questions, then started watching the video. I paused the video after every main section and going through the questions with her. It took close to an hour to go through a twenty minute video together but by the end she had answered all the questions accurately and she seemed to have understood the main points of the talk.
