The next culture workshop was one of the last. It was time for the CIES students to begin work on their final projects, which was
going to be a culmination of all of their intercultural understanding and knowledge from the workshops, in the form of a
presentation for a culture-fair type event. The TEFL students were instructed to
help but be in a more supportive role, allowing the CIES students to take front and center
stage. It had been a really nice experience for everyone over the last 5 weeks,
and we had all become closer than just peers. Ahmed, Rosana, Luther, and I had
become friends and we had learned a lot about each other. Mostly it was really
inspiring and enlightening to have a facility and program like the culture
workshops where the purpose was to interact and understand the deep social
differences between people who shared so much in common in other ways. The
whole experience was really beautiful. With that said, we wanted to help Ahmed
and Rosana do a really great job on the project, where they would be primary presenters. We had a poster board design and we planned how we would
incorporate the things we learned from previous workshops.
