Matt Zanis CP#3

For the third cultural workshop, our groups got a little rearranged due to a lot of absences, but it was still very interesting. We went over generalizations and stereotypes, which was very interesting to talk about but a little hard to explain first. The first one our group got into was gun ownership in America, a topic that seems to have become a part of our daily news cycle. I tried to explain it by talking about America’s Bill of Rights protects gun ownership in our country and many American’s cling to that as a way of life, but also telling them that many people feel needs changing as things are very different now. Another topic a woman brought up, was the difference in punishment between children in her country and America. She was surprised to see how people interject themselves into other people’s family situations and also at how frowned upon spanking was, as it is very common in our culture. It was very eye opening to see how different childhood could be across the country.
