My third session with David went smoothly. I started with a
free-write prompt to get him interested, which asked him to make a public
statement as the president, after people are scared when aliens are seen landing on earth. This was a fun activity where he could role-play as a
leader who would be the voice of calm and reason. After that I worked with him
on a worksheet where he would correct errors in verb tense and agreement.
Again, part of my lesson focused on him reading paragraphs, and together we
would isolate where a mistake had occurred. Then I would ask him questions,
like what tense should the verb be in, is the noun singular or plural, etc, to
help coach him through the corrections. I also quizzed him with a parts of
speech questionnaire and on the questions he missed, I took time to revisit
those topics and refresh his memory with examples.
