Thomas TS #5

I met up with my tutee Father John on Thursday. Although he was sick when I arrived and I offered to reschedule he, being a dedicated tutee, insisted. We read another chapter of his Roman Missal and he seems to be doing better than before. He still has his usual problems with pronouncing his 'v's as 'b's but he corrects them rather quickly. I did my previous exercise of letting him read the sentence first, then I would read it so he can hear what it's supposed to sound like, then he would repeat it after me, trying to correct his own mistakes if he can. If there are any persisting mistakes, I'll correct him using the sheet I was given. We finished another chapter and I wanted to see if there was anything else he wanted to work on (since I noticed he has trouble speaking and occasionally understanding me). Of course, I was more than glad to help him with more reading but I feel like I'm not doing my job as a tutor if I don't help with speaking and listening. I am currently thinking of something to do to help his speaking and understanding since he seems pretty shy.
